Hi all,  I was diagnosed with grade 2 triple negative breast cancer last month.  I have an appointment on Thursday to have a Picc, I then start chemo on Friday.  The chemo I’m having is called “Red Devil”, apparently called this as it has a sting in its tail and some horrible side effects.  Does any one have experience of this treatment?.

  • Hi, I’ve just had my second cycle of this. The main side effects for me have been nausea and tiredness

Ive found it much easier than the paclitaxil/carboplatin that I was on previously.
My advice would be to take the anti nausea tablets that the hospital give you, don’t wait until the nausea builds up x

  • I’m having one day of chemo, three weeks off and repeat.  I’m so nervous about it all.  Are you ok to drive?

  • I was recommended not to drive home from chemo but other than that I’ve been ok driving. I’ve tended to find that I don’t leave home for about 4 days after chemo as I’m literally exhausted.
The waiting to start chemo was the worst bit, you’ll feel better once you get started and into a routine xx

  • Hi Becki, it’s the nickname for anthracyclines - it will either be EC or doxorubicin, both are bright red - most women that have chemo  for BC will have it. I had EC for 3 rounds - had nausea and tiredness for a few days but was back to normal within a week. Obviously lost my hair as well - but in general it wasn’t too bad. Hope it goes well for you xxx

  • Red Devil is a very daunting nickname isn’t it!   It doesn’t help.

there are all sorts of accounts on the forum of people who have found it OK and people who have found it harder.  Your dose can be adjusted as necessary depending on how you find it.  Courage x
