Hi, I had my lumpectomy on the 10th November and I'm Type 1 diabetic. I use the libre Sensor and need to replace it today. Usually you switch arms every 2 weeks. I assume I can't do that now? Not sure
if I can always use my left arm though. Any advice would be appreciated

Hi, I can't offer any advice but very interested to know the answer too. I'm also Type 1 with a Libre sensor and due my surgery in a couple of weeks. I've been wondering the answer to this question as I've been researching online but seen conflicting information. I'm also having a node clearance and from what I've read I can't use that arm anymore. Hopefully someone can shed some light on it for us x
Hi Vicman31,
Sorry you're on here but everyone is really kind. I know I can move the sensor to my thigh but that won't work with jeans, . I'm sure someone has the answer.
Good luck with everything

My OH has Type 1 and a sensor. He was told he could move his sensor from front of arm to back and nearer to elbow and higher towards shoulder. As you say the thigh proved impossible....he catches both trousers and pants and pulls it off. As the sensor is only changed every 15 days, his arms seemed to recover. Perhaps you just have to try ? I know OH does a lot of experimenting. He has been Type 1 for over 40 years and has had so many changes that he has had to experiment.
I hope all goes well for you and that you are getting combined advice between oncology and enchrinology.
Take care
Thank you! I did move it somewhere else on same arm but didn't want to take a chance a second time.
Thanks for your answer I'll place new one closer to elbow as you've suggested and just try moving it up/down/front/back like your OH.

Hi, I just wanted to log back on to let you know I spoke to my Diabetes Nurse Specialist today and she confirmed that if node removal has taken place you can't use that arm anymore for the sensor. She did say that unofficially you can place rhe Libre 2 sensor on your stomach but obviously if it gives a false reading you can't complain as it's not meant to be there. She did say many people place there and have no issues. She did also offer me the option of switching to a Dexcom One sensor as this can be officially worn on the arm and stomach so that might be something to enquire about.
Hi Vicman31,
Thanks for this! That's interesting, didn't know anything about Dexcom before. I might give my nurse a call and discuss that. So many niggly little things to think about, but all of them are worth a healthy future.
How are you getting on yourself?
Hx
You're welcome I'd heard of Dexcom but didn't even think it was an option. The nurse has left it with me to have a think about. Pleased I phoned her.
Apart from having to argue with the staff at my PET scan that I couldn't just switch my insulin pump off for 4 hours (which I eventually won) I'm doing OK. Still waiting on test results which is driving me crazy! I was also diagnosed with IBS not long ago and all the stress has caused a flare up of that too, typical! We always joke I don't do things by half
Hope you're doing OK?
So far so good! Really lucky, found it early, nothing in lymph node, taking my drugs and seeing oncologist Wednesday. I reckon that's to talk about radiotherapy? I'm lucky. There are so many awful diagnoses on here and amazing people coping with those things.
Hope you get your results soon. Mine were delayed but they were still clear. Waiting though, big hurdle! Crazy.
Good luck
