Good morning lovely people. Just wondering if anyone has a clever trick on how to safely shower with a battery powered dressing? Had a WLE and flap closure plus SLNB on Tues so quite a big wound. I’m speaking to the BCN later today but any tips would be helpful.
Hi
I had a PICO wound dressing which was battery powered.
I was told not to shower while it was applied as any water getting on to it could stop it working. Therefore, I had a flannel wash and when my hair needed washing my husband did it for me while I held a towel over the dressing so it wouldn't get splashed.
Thank you so much for your reply, much appreciated. How long did you have it in for?
Hi Ruva,
I also had a battery powered PICO dressing - it was on for just over a week. I was very glad when it was taken off as it started buzzing a lot towards the end.
I was advised to lower the shower head and just shower from waist down. I used to do this with a sports bra on - partly to keep water away from the dressing and partly to hold the power pack. For my top half I used a flannel and did my hair separately by leaning over the bath.
It was about 10 days.
Hi, I also had a Pico dressing on for a week. I've got to say that I didn't bother to shower that first week. Lots of flannel washes and dry shampoo in my hair. X
