surgery effect bowels?

Are you passing wind? If not your bowels may still be inactive. If this is the case ensure that your diet will be keeping everything as soft as possible for when you do poop again. Would you consider taking something to help stimulate your bowel again? Before what is waiting to pass through becomes too hard? 

What pain medication are you taking? Constipation is a side effect of many. I was on dihydrocodeine and needed to the some laxatives to keep things moving. You could have a word with you local pharmacist.

The only pain meds were ones given in hospital. Have taken some movo. Went a little but bowels really dont want to work. So guess need give  nurse a call see whats going on .

After my surgery I was told this would be an effect of all the pain meds so was told to take a laxative. I was a bit wary of this but it did help!
