I went on holiday to Anglesey two weeks after my first chemo with a full head of hair and within a day of getting there I couldn’t believe how much would come out each morning on the brush .I didn’t tell anyone about it but in the car with the windows down the family were getting hair blown a lover them I noticed my mother even pull one out of her mouth.I had to come clean and tell them .My daughter ordered turban type hats off Amazon which arrived the next day .Three months down the line I am pretty much bald .I have a lovely blonde wig which I got £110 off macmillan towards it so cost £70 .It looks good and I dress it up with hair bands When I go out .Not often because still got Chemotherapy and don’t want to get infections.

  • Hi, I remember thinking my hair loss wasn't too bad when someone at work, who didn't know I was undergoing chemo, asked me if I was ill. My lovely hairdresser shaved it all off and I had an awesome wig, which I really loved. Good to hear you have found a way to manage this side effect, it's not easy but we all get through it. Best wishes

  • I love my wig. I never have a bad hair day now. No roots showing and I think I’ll cut & colour my hair to match the wig when it grows back. Agree about being mindful with infections. Best of luck x

  • The hair will hopefully come back fairly quick. I lost all my hair - the last of it a few weeks after I had finished chemo. However after checking with my oncologist I started taking biotin supplements and now five months post chemo I have a good covering of hair that's coming through grey and curly.
