Severe wrist pain

Hi

I've been on Anastrozole now for over a year and I woke up 2 days ago with such severe wrist pain, No over the counter pain killers are helping, I can't sleep

it is so painful I have never experienced anything like this - could it be the medication after all this time?

I haven't banged or knocked it or done anything to it. I had a bad shoulder and am waiting on x ray results for that, but this pain in my wrist is so bad

I am thinking of going to A&E but not sure they can help if it is the medication.

Has anyone else had anything like this after a year of taking meds?

Many thanks

Jaxs

  • I had severe wrist pain on exemestane that started a few months in. I think it was caused by repetitive movements with my wrists and then it developed into severe inflammation. I had to wear wrist splints over night to be comfortable and even had a steroid injection into one of them. It lasts about 6 months and then almost spontaneously cleared up. The steroid did help hugely, but it came back a bit.

I seem to go through various different parts of my body being in pain - for the last while it has been sciatica that has woken me up at months, but that too is now resolving after several months.

It's like my body can't control inflammation once it gets started.

I have been on exemestane for 2.5 years

  • Hi there

I suffered from this when first starting Anastrozole.  But it later disappeared I'm nit sure if it was a particular brand (a friend told me it was) I found using a wrist support bandage helped... and yoga! Where I used all my body arms,' and wrists thst needed strengthening
