Chemotherapy starters October 2023

Diagnosed with both triple negative and HR positive BC. I’m starting chemo October 2023 for 30 weeks, seems such a long time and more than what was reported to me by the surgeon who stated 6 cycles 3 weeks apart. I’ve had DMX end of July and now awaiting chemo to ‘mop up’ any cancer cells. 

Starting chemo and phesgo injections next week. 
Very nervous and sad. 
Six cycles in all xx

To be fair surgeons don't always know all the ins and outs and it's down to the multidisciplinary team to agree treatment plans which includes oncologist. My surgeon referred me to an oncologist once he had done his bit and it was oncologist who decided on my treatment plan after oncotype test

It seems so complicated lots to learn!

I just hope I don’t feel too ill!

You should be having an appointment with your chemo team before you start so you have an idea of what to expect. Have a notepad handy and anything you think of to ask before you go write it down. You should be given lots of meds to counter side effects and certainly anti sickness meds which you need to take before you are sick. Keep your red card handy and monitor your temperature at least twice a day to monitor for potential issues of your temperature suddenly goes up

Hello everyone  

I am due second cycle of chemo next week?

In all apart from 48 hours after first one, not been too bad how’s everyone doing?

Glad to hear first cycle went ok. I had my 1st mammogram post treatment last week - all clear

Oh that’s amazing news!

I wonder what will happen at the end of my treatment? Do they give you scans or anything?

Don't know as all my chemo and radiotherapy was adjuvant IE to reduce risk of recurrence.  I am having annual mammograms.
