  • Hello everyone I went for a breast screening yesterday after finding small lump. 2 areas of calcification found and the radiographer did 3 cone needle biopsies which were not painful but made me feel extremely nauseous and worked up with worry. She looked at them under microscope and said they look suspicious and my duct looks abnormal :( she inserted a marker and I had a second mammogram. Now 7-10 days for results and I’m feeling pretty churned.
I’m a primary teacher and just got my first job starting September since having my last 2 children. I was so excited about it and now I’m imagining calling the head teacher to say I can’t start because I’ve got breast cancer :( I know I’m fast forwarding to worst case scenario but that’s what my brain does to me when I overthink.
just wondering if anyone could reassure me or let me know if they have had similar experience and what happened?
  • love to all on here..thank you
  • Hi ECD77

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you are waiting a confirmation of breast cancer. It might be nothing but if it turns out to be cancer know that breast cancer is very treatable. As regards your new job if it does turn out to be breast cancer then you are considered a person with a disability so the Headmistress of your new school can’t withdraw the job off as you are protected by employment law.

Wishing you the best of luck with your results.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks so much for reply you have made me feel better xx

  • Hi, I had “calcifications” show up on a mammogram. If it is just this, it’s called DCIS and appears in a milk duct. My dcis had broken out of the duct in two places and so was classed as invasive.

Apparently though, calcifications can appear as you age and especially after the menopause. It is when they clump together that it sets off the alarm bells for the doctors.

Keep positive and fingers crossed for you that all is well.
