Hi
I had DiEP in February. All went well except for a granuloma in my belly button which is still weeping.
Last week I found a lump in my TUMMY that felt like a marble - same size, shape and consistency as a marble. It's not near any of my scars. You can't tell it's there by looking, but it can definitely be felt.
I spoke to dressing clinic who were to busy to deal. They emailed the surgeon's secretary. She's booked me in for 4th August - the earliest appointment. She advised if it got worse to call GP.
The lump is about 1cm from my granuloma. So it could be something to do with that. Or it could be fat necrosis.
Over the last week it's grown and is more easily felt. It's protruding slightly but not really visible and the skin is very mildly red. Does fat necrosis grow? And how fast? Would a granuloma be that big subcutaneously?
I feel if I go to my GP I'll be dismissed as I've got an appointment....5 weeks away. I don't want to make too much fuss as it is (relatively) small and most likely benign. I don't want to 'cry wolf' or put pressure on the NHS system. But equally I don't want to ignore to the point the treatment is made more difficult.
Advixe?
If it's red there could be an infection, so it might be best to get it checked:)
Thanks for the reply.
Not sure it's an infection as it's not sore, inflamed or warm to the touch. Besides, it's 4 months since surgery and not near any of my scars. It's only slightly red, and that's more from the swelling as lump grows.
I'm sure it's fat necrosis or something to do with he nearby granuloma. I just can't decide how much to press the doctors. Don't want to be a nuisance but equally don't want to ignore it and find it's a bigger problem.
Any thoughts anyone?
you are not a nuisance, get it checked. push them please.
Had appointment. GP useless. But spoke with secretary to plastic surgeon, who chatted to surgeon. Upshot is it's likely to be a hernia. I have Outpatients appointmentin August so can wait till then. They'll probably sort when I have reconstructive surgery.
glad someone had some answers for you, remember never a nuisance, they are called healthcare providers for a reason
