Hello, thanks for allowing me to join. I’m an Australian with Mets breast cancer and am currently travelling in Europe. I will be in the UK in August when I’m due for my Fulvestrant injections. I have a letter from my Oncologist outlining my current status and treatment plan. Is anyone able to give me advice on how I can access my treatment in the UK? Eg can a GP prescribe Fulvestrant? Will I need to consult an Oncologist? Can I do this through a hospital cancer centre? Wait times? Private services?
Australia has reciprocal health arrangements with the UK so I can access the NHS, but I don’t know how to do this. I fully expect I will need to pay the list price for the Fulvestrant up front.
I’d be grateful for any advice you can give. I’m starting to get very stressed about how I’m going to access my treatment.
Hi Boudica
I personally don't know the answer to your question, but it might be worth giving the Macmillan experts a call as I expect they will be able to provide you some information/reassurance.
Here's the telephone number when ringing from abroad. +44 207 091 2230
I do hope you're having a wonderful trip and I am sure you'll be able to get the assistance you need when you're here.
Kindest wishes, Lesley
