Auxiliary drain and insect repellent two queries

Hi I had a local wide excision and lymph node strip on Tuesday. I have a drain in my arm pit. The amount of fluid coming out has almost stopped. Should I continue vacuum and measuring till my appointment on tuesday? It really tickled and I felt a sucking sensation yesterday when I did it. 150 first day, 120 second, 80, then 40 yesterday.

Question two is there an unscented 50% deet insect spray? I put some sainsburys own on yesterday as I wanted some fresh air and listen to the birds. But it triggered a migraine in my poor mum. She's sensitive to perfume and chemicals like bleach.

Any thoughts much appreciated x claire

  • I hope this helps I have had full lymph node removal and a mastectomy in March my breast nurse advised me to get a sun tan cream with repellent in , it also protect the arm from sun burn so I manage to buy SOLTAN PROTECT & REPEL acts as a moisturising so it helps to keep the arm moisturised.  Also bout JUNGLE FORMULA DRY PROTECT SPRAY haven’t noticed any smell when wearing it. Sorry although l had two drains in after operation I cant remember what they measured when taken out . Funny how you soon forget these things,

  • I haven’t tried these products out yet - will do in Spain next week - but they come highly recommended from a friend who gets all sorts of reactions to the heavy duty stuff (rashes and headaches). Keen to see how effective the bracelets are. The big test will be my husband rather than me as he seems to get bitten more than I do….
