Hi all, so my surgeon phoned me to wreck my long weekend telling me my score way ahead of weeks I have to wait for oncology appt. so here I am googling (doom scrolling) away.

my oncotest suggests chemo would probably be helpful, score of 35.

what types are there? I am quite adrift at the moment whether i will or won’t, she suggest 6 months but doesn't know because i have to see the other Dr. for all the real info.

i am actually quite annoyed she called me as the appt was booked for the 12th, which is weeks away.

any others with similar scores that did or didn't do chemo?

  • The type of chemo is tied to the type of cancer, and to the stage, and patients with the same type and stage will sometimes be offered somewhat different treatments, depending on the rest of the medical landscape. Once you know the type of chemo they have in mind and tell you what the treatment would involve exactly, you wlil have the data you need to focus your research on that. However if you are trying to get information on possible options, I would suggest reading pages such as Macmillan's information and Breastcancernow. There is a lot of data out there, not all of it true, some of it out of date, so make sure the source is reliable.

  • Hello Djct. Greycats is right. My score was 24 and according to oncotype scoring means a medium risk of the cancer recurring. I am 50, had grade 3 type of cancer, ER positive, no underlying health conditions. I am receiving chemo on a 21 days cycle.

  • thank you for your reply, sounds very similar so some hope for me

  • Hi. I had a score of 29 and had researched that between 15 and 30 there is a discussion to be had. For me and my husband a score of 29 was no brainer we go with chemo. I've had 4 cycles ec and 3 cycles docetaxel but it will be your oncologist and multi disciplinary team who will work out what chemo you get. If you decide to go ahead and get your plan come back on here and there will be loads of advice
