Hello all
I have just had my 1st Alendronic acid IV this morning and was not given any information about possible side effects.
Hi, I noticed your post hasn't had any replies yet and there are not so many posts about alendronic acid, so I wanted to suggest you might give the lovely folks here at Macmillan a call on 0800 808 0000 and have a chat with them about side effects. Best wishes
I've had 2 now. The first one made me feel tired and a bit achey for a few days, but nothing like as bad as the chemo, so I was relieved. The second one was the same but not as bad. I've heard that the more you have, the easier they get. Some of my friends only had the tiredness and aching after the first one.
Fingers crossed that you won't find it too bad.
Hi Nottsgirl
Thank you for your response.
Had a pretty awful night. Started shivering about 12 hours after infusion. My night was a mixture of hot and cold. Very achy, so just like having flu. I have had a lot of issues with indigestion and Heart burn during my chemo journey and this was bad again last night. Ful of wind, and feeling nauseous. Feeling like (as my mum would say) something the cat dragged in. Fingers crossed its gets better as the day goes on. Xx
Thank you RedSqirrelsNuts
As you said Fingers crossed it gets easier with each one. 5 more to go over the next 3 years x
Hi Irishgirl16
I tried the number you listed, but was informed " number not recognised" My other two reply were helpful and hopefully it gets easier with each infusion xx
Thank you
The first one was the worst I think because you don’t know what to expect. Take paracetamol when you go for your appointment next time and the every 4 hours. Your description is very accurate as to how it made me feel after the first one. You will start to feel better by the end of today. Take care x
Hi, I had symptoms very much as you described after the first one but felt much better by the second day after the transfusion. The 2nd one I felt a bit tired and achy but very mild and no symptoms at all after the next two. X
Ho Gilliebean.
I'm wondering if my symptoms were as severe due only having my last round of chemo 2 weeks ago. That was my final round and it decided to remind me just how brutal this process can be. All I seem to be doing today is sleeping. Just had my second nap of the day, which is NOT like me at all........
That’s a bit unfair hitting you 2 weeks after chemo! Hopefully you’ll feel better tomorrow. Nothing like a good nap x
