Good afternoon ladies, this may be a strange question, however, has anybody got any advice on what false eyelashes you can get whilst having chemo? I start my treatment on the 6th June and I will start to lose my hair 1 to 2 days after. You can get wigs, and have microblading for the eyebrows, but what about eyelashes?

  • Hi I went to the Boots No 7 counter who are working with Macmillan on helping with make up etc.  They showed me how to use an eyebrow pencil on my upper eyelid to help enhance the eyes.  Hard to explain here.  They advised on my eyebrows and the use of lipstick.  May be worth a visit. It certainly boosted my confidence. There are other charities that also advise.  Worth a general google and exploring the posts here.

    All the best

  • Hi Mead11,

hope you dont mind me jumping in here but saw your comment about make up during chemo.  You can buy magnetic eyelashes but i couldnt get on with them.  I used an eyebrow pencil for my eyebrows as you cant get them microbladed once you've started chemo.  You canuse eyebrow pencil to enhance your top lashes by lifting the eyelid and colouring in at the base of your lashes and rim of eyelid.  Hope this helps x

  • I’ll just mention that you may not need anything. My eyebrows and eyelashes are surprisingly unaffected.

  • I lost mine after 5 cycles of chemo. Last bit of body hair to go

  • Just to reassure you - eye lashes seem to stay with a lot of us until the last few cycles I have no idea why. Eye liner can really work to lift the eyes. In my experience my eye brows came back very quickly - then the eye lashes it's my hair that is a bit slow!

  • Thank you for the advice. I've been told about a charity called Maggie's that's based at my local hospital, St James, they offer help, tips, and support with hair loss, eyebrow and eyelash makeup ect, so I think I'll book onto the course there. They do all sorts of things and it's,a drop in centre for a natter and a brew or for you just to go chill. Family and friends can also pop in for support, a brew or a chat with the staff. It's a lovely relaxing place.

  • Maggies at Saint James is great! Book on to the Look good Feel Good  session there - its fun and lots of tips!

  • Hey there! First of all, sending you loads of positive vibes and strength as you begin your chemo journey. Losing hair can be tough, but there are options for lashes too! You could try looking for natural or synthetic lashes specifically designed for sensitive skin. Also, consider talking to your oncologist or a beauty professional who specializes in chemo patients—they may have some great recommendations. Two hearts By the way, I've heard great things about Lashpro that offers a variety of lash supplies. Check it out!
