Has anyone else noticed a paper nipple and areolar on the radiated breast. It's 7 months since my radiotherapy and I had a clear mammogram 2 weeks ago?
Hi Alip , yes my nipple hated radiotherapy, it went black, then a huge scab fell off it (sorry if tmi!!), and ended up almost colourless. It’s also now inverted which it wasn’t before. It’s gradually getting its colour back but remains partly inverted, but gradually less so. Very weird! I’m nearly 5 years post diagnosis and over 4 years post rads so it’s taken a long time to resolve. So far so good re annual mammograms. Xx
Oh yes Ochno , the long lasting Smurf effects! I had a blue boob for months. After surgery I also had a big haematoma and generous bruising so all in all quite the rainbow effect! It did all resolve without intervention but was quite alarming at the time. I was lucky that the breast care nurses didn’t mind seeing me frequently post op to monitor it! Xx
I’m 4 months post surgery, it’s still all looking a bit Technicolored. Blue, still bruised, red rash, grey nip and scar like a puckered upside down smile. I’m glad to hear that hopefully it will improve with time.
Yep mine are smaller and paler after surgery and the one side had extra rads is like scabby round the stitches, I have a bilateral
mammonplastomy and the sizes are great but they are kind of like square shaped - they were quite droppy before, neigh pendulous but now the are like oblong shape - I’m hoping massing and natural weigh will even them out a bit. My cancer was huge in the one breast - 8cm and 6cm so I’m so lucky to have been able to have my ow
, but still bloody terrified if I get a reoccurrence. Good to see that we are all in it together

Both mine are now paler, assume because of now being in a medical menopause. My radiated one is a little rougher to touch, like the skin never fully recovered (it's been over 2 years since my radiotherapy)
My irradiated one goes absolutely white I wonder if it's oedema causing it.
