Hi, I finished chemo six weeks ago and my hair is starting to grow back. However, it very fine baby hair and it’s not growing everywhere. Mostly the back. Should I shave it into a grade one to help the growth or does this not work. Could use some advice as at the moment I look a bit like Gollom but am just loving the fact that I have some hair! Thanks x
I am 5 months on from chemo for my primary cancer and my hair is good now. The first growth was at the back, and it took a while for the top and front to fill in, also for the texture to revert to normal. I am still keeping the back and sides very short whilst the top grows a bit.
Hi Louise May, Hoorah for hair coming back! Sounds normal to me and exactly as others have described and was same for me. Top of head slower to grow back and is baby soft….and very grey! Sides and back growing fastest but leaving till by my ears gets too long and then will get shaped around sides and back for top to catch up and resemble a style. I am 5 months post chemo ending…I had curly hair pre chemo but at this point is straight. Interested to know at what point others noticed curl…maybe mine still too short .
Hi Louise May, this is my hair 9.5 weeks post chemo - my eyelashes are back too. Noticed them at about 9 weeks too. My eyebrows hung on somehow but have definitely filled in a bit.. I’ve been colouring my hair since the first greys appeared years ago and had never let the colour grow out so this is the first time seeing it completely left to it’s own devices :)
I use a mix of coconut & rosemary oil on it as I read somewhere that that is supposed to promote growth. It’s lovely & soft :) I’m not brave enough to go out like this though so still wearing my wig
I love the swirl….I love the softness too…likewise too short for me to go without my hat!
My kids love the swirl too :) There is a tuft at the front that I never noticed before either - kids love touching that too!
Not sure when it will be long enough to wear out again & also not sure if I will finally embrace the grey!!
