No chemo!

Have been told that I’m not suitable for chemotherapy so will have mastectomy on right side but now have been told that the cells on the right side are still looking wrong and have to have another biopsy the third vacuum one I’ve had this year so am becoming a pro at this. Have finally been given a date for op though but am really scared as it’s been 3 months since diagnosis. Also one of my children (late 30’s) is so nonchalant about my diagnosis I feel he doesn’t care at all. Heartbreaking and could just do without the negativity at this moment. Luckily my daughters are brilliant but worried that I’m putting too much on them. Should I just ask for double mastectomy just to get it over with? Feeling really low at moment. Sorry if rambling just so confused

Dear Buddy’s girl, so sorry to hear that the medics have to revisit an area you thought was sorted.  At least they always have your best interest at heart and you can contact macmillan navigators to ask any question. Regarding your son, men don’t always react as we would expect them to.  My husband was v quiet and I felt he was not engaging in my plight until my friend and neighbour told me he cried on her shoulder about my diagnosis.  Most unlike him!  Just know that he may be trying to ‘field’ his emotions.  Lastly surgeons will only complete a double mastectomy if they feel it’s prudent.  Nothing is done on a whim. I really wish you the very best and remember when things are sorted re treatment and next stages, you hopefully get used to it all and although it takes up your time and thoughts it becomes an every day occurrence…do not let it become the ‘be all and end all’. It is indeed devastating news but one which is copable..I really wish you well.xx
