Hello, I'm new here. Got diagnosed in January and had my first chemotherapy 3 weeks ago. Just tested positive for covid so had a delay for my next dose. My little one is 16 months and just wondering how people are managing? I'm finding it very difficult on my bad days as all I wanted was to sleep. We are quite lucky though to have grandparents close by who have been amazing. What struggling now as I don't want to pass covid onto anyone but need some help with the little one. Just wondering if anyone has any advice or experienced this themselves? Thank you x

  • I hope someone answers - I don’t have a toddler now but I did have one during a stint of clinical depression and anxiety and I know it’s tough to keep up with them when you’re struggling.  It’s ok to let go of routines and ideals that aren’t serving you well - you can always reintroduce them as you feel better and they grow and their needs change so quickly anyway.  Just be kind to yourself and let the mess and chaos of toddlerdom rule if you need to.  Hopefully your Covid will be short lived and you can get back to parents helping.   You can go to bed at the same time as your toddler and nap with them - don’t feel you have to do adult stuff when they are resting/zoned out watching CBeebies.  Bless you.

  • I have a two and a half year-old and he is full on! Sometimes that's a good thing as he takes my mind off my health issues, but sometimes it makes me feel bad because I can't always do what he wants me to do. Make a train track / play in the garden etc.

How are you finding it now?

I try to do what I can and rest as much as possible. Luckily my son goes to nursery while I should be at work, that really helps, but you might not have that possibility.

Sending love and hoping that you are coping okay.
