Can anyone tell me if there is a timeline for treatment to start after surgery. Its been a week and I haven't even got a follow up appt for my results.
I know the health service is under pressure, but the pathway doesn't seem to be at all clear.
I feel like I need to be my own advocate.
Hello Helsx,
I n my case it was about fortnightly I think depending on how often the multidisciplinary team meets and awaiting laboratory results. As I understand the team who were involved in my case had to wait longer for the laboratory results because it was during the Christmas holidays so was longer. Once all the results are available to them then Your consultant should be able to tell you soon the pathway that is unique to your case.
I hope that helps.
I'm a teacher so I'm used to planning my life in exacting detail, so I'm finding the waits very frustrating. Thanks for your reply.
Hi Helsx
I had a lumpectomy at the end of April and had an appointment for my results 3 weeks later, so the third week in May. I then had an appointment with the oncologist at the beginning of June and started chemotherapy a month later.

I had an appointment two weeks later but my results weren’t ready so it was a wasted trip and got results and treatment plan after three weeks. The results need to be in and the MDT need to agree the proposed treatment plan together so it’s unlikely to be sooner than two weeks. But you should have an appointment soon - if not chase up through your breast cancer nurse.
