Best wishes to anyone having surgery tomorrow

Bit random I suppose! I'm having surgery tomorrow to remove a 10cm mass (benign thank goodness) where my breast used to be (sic). Had BC 18 years ago but every so often my body likes to give me a little reminder.  I've had so any surgeries over the years that the skin is apparently quite traumatised so I'm a bit concerned about what might happen this time.

Last big surgery was to replace a ruptured implant but they decided not to replace it as there was quite a mess in there.

X fingers it's as simple as my surgeon says!

Good luck to everyone about to have surgery. Even the minor ops are as if the cancer is reminding you not to get too blasé.

  • Hi  ,
So sorry you find yourself back on this rollercoaster of a ride.
We wish you well for the surgery tomorrow and that all can be done as needed and that the healing procedure can soon start.
Please let us know how you get on.
Sending love and best wishes x

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x
  • Update : back home with a drain fitted. Good news is it's not sinister. Was an actively bleeding hematoma. All removed, stitched up and wearing a pressure bandage for a few days.

Seems I won't be back at work on Wednesday as I'd thought though. More like a couple of weeks off but surgeon did say I could wfh next week if I feel up to it.

Won't be running for a few weeks until it's 100% healed up as they don't know what caused it, so caution required.

  • So pleased for you that all went well and was not sinister.

Heres to a speedy recovery, hugs and best wishes.

  • Very pleased to hear that. Wishing you a speedy recovery. All the best.

  • Drain out and pressure bandage replaced with a light dressing on Thursday.

Just had my first shower! Bliss! Removed the dressing but it looks a bit angry, so applied a big dressing as all the scarring always seems to be under the bra line. Taken some photos of what my 'new normal' looks like for reference in case anything like this happens again.

Now to focus on what I can and can't do, so spending the weekend planning my return to running and what to do with my dog, who usually runs with me. Lessons in the garden for now, and then we'll both use the C25K to get going again when the time comes.
