Hi I’m new to the group I had surgery about 7/8 weeks ago and have just started chemo. Am currently off work whilst I’m going through chemo and struggling with feeling isolated being stuck at home and also the boredom of being at home. Was just wondering what everyone does to occupy their time as there’s only so much housework I can do and TV I can watch. Also wondered if there was anyone who would be up for messaging as would be nice to talk to people in similar situations and who understand how I’m feeling about it all.

  • Hi

Just wanted to send a big hug your way, different story in my case but I’m sure some folk will pop on with similar experiences. Will do longer message later, I’m just waiting at the dentist! Xxx

  • Hi, I think keeping busy is the only answer and I was lucky that I was able to work flexibly from home throughout my chemo - is that an option for you?  I was also recommended to walk as much as I could during chemo as it would help my body cope, and it certainly helped me to be out in the fresh air.  I hope you find some things to keep you occupied, I completely understand.  Best wishes

  • I work in a shop so the risk of catching stuff is high so can’t really go into work

I can go in for a few hours and do stuff in the office etc but it’s not the same as working full time.

i work full time so now trying to fill my days are hard

  • I know what you mean, it is the lack of purpose when you are used to your days being busy at work.  I have found audiobooks have helped keep my mind busy, podcasts and self help/motivational stuff, Whiston giving myself little diy projects to get stuff ready for spring in the garden.  Have been painting garden planters and sowing seeds, stuff to make me believe I have a future beyond all this!  Have attended a crystal bowl sound bath which was really beneficial and have booked onto an aromatherapy workshop.  Decide what brings you joy and do a little each day, doesn't matter how long a project takes, for once it is about enjoying the doing, not the end product!
