Hi.

I was diagnosed with grade 2 invasive breast cancer and had 2 lumps removed. I'm now waiting for radiotherapy and will need estrogen blockers for 5-10 years.

I have critical illness cover with Canada life and am waiting for them to complete their investigation /report. Has anyone had cover with them and received a payout? I have 3 children under 4 that I will need to put into full time childcare care for months while I have radiotherapy and recover which is going to be a lot. I don't qualify for any benefits so any payout would be hugely welcome.

Thank you x

  • Hi there, I can understand this is a worrying time for you but unfortunately I don't have the experience you’re looking for, but my response will bump you post back up the list so I hope someone will be along soon.

I did just want to mention that Macmillan have a lot of specialist advice, through this link MacMillan Support    This might be helpful for you. Best wishes

  • Hi, I received a payout from another insurer. The Critical Illness cover was part of a Life Insurance policy. They were relatively quick, and their website did boast that they paid out about 97% of claims for invasive breast cancer. The only delay came with the Hospital having to confirm the diagnosis, which took about eight weeks and a lot of chasing. Hope you hear good news very soon, because it is a helpful thing to receive in amongst everything else.

  • I had the same - the delay was 8 weeks for non urgent hospital paperwork. But they paid out. You might also get income protection to cover from date of application if that’s part of your policy

  • My husband had his claim refused and this caused him and our family a lot of hurt and upset as it was done in contrast to the information provided by my husband’s treating oncology consultants

hope Canada Life paid your claim and you had a better outcome

does anyone else have any experience in dealing with Canada Life
