Hi, I am having trouble with post surgery bras I have now tried 6 different bras but each one is cutting into me under my armpit probably due to swelling and change of shape following my bilateral mamography. I have tried creams and stuffing tissue under my arms to stop the rubbing and chafing. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks
Hi ROWLIEGIRL I’m nearly 4year down the line from single Masectomy and over the years have found a few things that have helped me with this problem .
All on Amazon
…Bra extender hooks so band not so tight
.. bra strap holder for keeping straps in place across back
Last but certainly not least
…bra chaffing liners
I also use a prosthetic sew in pocket so I can use ordinary bra ( cheaper than post surgery bras )
Hope this helps and you get some comfort
Hello,
I have found these comfi. M and S cotton non wired post surgery cami bra - just ordered another today.
My scar site is very lumpy and a bit swollen where nodes were removed - not complaining- it did the job.
xx
Thanks, just ordered the under arm bra liners. Fingers crossed xx
I have one of these but no good. I'm having a professional bra fitting in a couple of weeks. I think my size and shape has changed so ordering wrong sizes. Glad they helped you xxx
Oh well - we are all different in what we need. I am sure you will find something eventually!
xx
Hi, I had to order bras online during lockdown, tried post-surgery ones with prosthesis but they crept across my chest, funny on a good day but not on a bad one! As soon as lockdown allowed, had a fitting at M & S, very skilled and helpful, the best bra turned out to be an ordinary one and got two nice ones for going out in but for at home returned to t shirt bras I'd had before, approx half the price of their post surgery ones with pockets (like Northerner, I'm thrifty too!). As I'm a sewer I put my own pockets in but our hospital offer a free pocket sewing service if you find an ordinary bra suits you best. The "going out" ones do chafe as you describe in your post, as they're tighter, which is why I wear looser ones at home where only I can see the creeping - and can yank them back every now and again which is harder to do in public! I was interested to read about the liners, will look into those as would ease soreness when have to wear the tighter ones for more than a couple of hours. Hope the soreness eases up for you soon.
I had to order online during lockdown (see my other post) so ordered my usual size which didn't work. As soon as I could get to a fitter they came up with a different chest and cup size. They were lovely, very skilled and experienced in post-surgery fitting.
