Dupuytrens contracture

Hi I had chemotherapy last year for breast cancer during which I had stiffness and numbness in my fingers and toes. I now seem to have developed Dupuytrens . My fingers are stiff and my ring rings have nodules and my rt ring finger has spasms. It seems a coincidence. Has any one else suffered the same?

  • Hi

I can't give any advice, but I see your post has dropped from the 1st page, so I am replying in the hope that someone is around to offer advice at the moment.

    Kindest wishes, Lesley

  • I didn't develop dupuytrens from chemo but I got a lot of water retention and couldn't take my rings off for many months. I developed a ganglian cyst on the finger beside my ring, assuming from the congestion. As soon as I was able to take the rings off, I did, and have left them off ever since. The ganglian cyst resolved on its own but it was a good year or so. I'm at the point of thinking about wearing my rings again, over 2 years after chemo and 18 months after I took them off.

  • Thanks for your reply. I've been doing research and think that my chemo, radiotherapy or anastrozole has triggered it. I've had a few autoimmune diseases in the past, think this is another.
