How do people manage the metal taste during chemo, it’s putting me off eating and drinking which is making me feel drained
Hi, it's horrid, isn’t it? I think the weird tastes is one of most challenging things to deal with. I found cucumber was ok, and a nurse suggested pineapple, both the fruit and the juice. Hopefully it will only last a few days for you
Hi I finished chemo 4 weeks ago and really struggled with my taste being effected. I found random things tasted okay. I had a bottle of curry sauce and had a bit of that with food as I could taste it. I don't normally drink cola but found Pepsi Max (caffeine free) tasted good. Butter mint sweets were okay. I found each cycle different mashed potato/jacket potatoes was good. Pineapple, especially fresh was good. Tea, chocolate, etc were a no go except on the few days before the next chemo. It is awful not being able to enjoy food but it doesn't take long to enjoy food again once chemo is over. I ordered electrolyte powdered drinks from Amazon to compensate for not eating much. They didn't taste great either so I mixed them with high juice/squash as they compensated for the lack of food.
