I’m struggling with drinking as much as I should during chemo because of the metal taste, this is causing my urine to be dark orange and my heart rate to be fast dies anyone else suffer like this or any suggestions please

  • Think you should speak to one of the team - I assume you are speaking to someone weekly? Don’t ignore the symptoms because they are able to sort these quickly.

I had to work through a lot of different drinks during chemo as your taste does change - couldn’t bear water at one point!

  • Thanks for your reply, I have spoken to my team, I think they must be fed up of me.. I’m gone on to lucozade today, give that a try, I’m fed up all ready and only 2 chemos in

  • You will get there !

Glad you spoke to the team - they won’t be fed up of you. It’s always best to check. Better than leaving things to get worse !

I tried Coke Zero but left it to go flat. Went off coffee, orange …….

I think the only thing left was tea and ginger biscuits - they help with nausea.

  • I never know what’s best to have seen as I’ve had loose bowels since I started chemo in January, not even loose just water, today I feel weak and so tired Sleeping

  • Sorry you are suffering.

Hope you are having weekly checks - either at your chemo appointment or phone calls from a nurse/doctor. Sounds like you need to reinforce your symptoms to them and make sure they are hearing you. My team were amazing and wanted to help so I hope yours are the same.

But I did suffer weakness and tiredness too - it’s all part of the process.
