Hi can anyone give me advice on letrazole? Have you had side effects if so what are they ?
Thanks
Amanda
Hi
The issues for me are joint stiffness and hot flushes.
I was told that the first 6 months are the worst and they were right.
I was lucky in that I had a course of acupuncture at my hospital and they taught me to self administer the needles which I now do weekly and it has cut my hot flushes nearly completely.
My stiff joints bother me mostly in first thing in the morning but I then walk 4 miles with my dogs and it wears off.
Some people find one brand better than another so if you find a brand that suits you try and get your pharmacy to supply that brand for repeat prescriptions.
If you type Letrazole in the search bar there are whole threads about the things people have experienced and their tips so it’s worth a read.
Good luck with it x
Hi there! Been on letrozole since end Nov. I did asked oncologist what happens if I don’t get upon with it? He said persevere with it for 4 months then come back! I’ve now done 3 months and bones are stiff but apart from that I’ve been fine. I hope you are doing ok? X
I’ve been on it for a few weeks alongside zoladex/gosreslin monthly since early January to keep my ovaries shut down. I haven’t noticed anything new adding Letrozole - if anything my joints are slightly better as I was in a bad state with that after chemo. I am a little stiff first thing but that’s not new for me as I had a bad accident decades ago which damaged joints. I walk 12000-15000 steps on a normal day so I’m not inactive. I get hot at night but nothing catastrophic - same as I did during chemo. I just keep several glasses of water by my bed and if I wake up hot I push the covers off, have a drink and settle back down. I think I might be lucky in that regard hearing from others as I get straight back to sleep and I’m rarely too hot during the day. I am more tired than when I was well but not as tired as I was before my diagnosis or during chemo or radio. I do need more rest and to prioritise. The monthly injections give me mild period like pain and a little bit of nausea but if I’m busy I can be distracted. I know it’s early days for me but so far so good…..
Hi, I started Letrozole about 18 months ago. I have some occasional stiffness in my knees, mostly when I have not been walking enough. I have hot flushes from time tom time, usually when I've had red wine, which is annoying but not catastrophic. Good luck, hope it's easy for you
Thanks everyone kind of you all to reply I've the odd twinges in my joints now after just 2 weeks.!..Will persevere for now.
Hi
I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer in 2021 . I had a therapeutic mammoplasty and had radiotherapy for 5 days ( 12 minutes a day ) . Good recovery with no problems. On Letrozole 2.5 mg at night since Jan 22. Initially, after taking this - I had pain in both feet at night which now has resolved but occasionally have discomfort in my feet when walking . Weight gain noticed too . I am very active , tennis, yoga , dog walking and a boxing class.
Just had a 6 month review with Consultant - all clear and to continue on Letrozole for 4 years. Annual mammograms and appointments annually. I am going to try Magnesium supplements to see if this helps my foot pain.
Hope this helps anyone.
Good luck
It’s the Labrador who’s mainly responsible for that
Aw gorgeousness! Who doesn’t love a doggie?! If I knew how to download photos I would show you my ‘dog’..it’s a chihuahua..not a proper dog, as my husband keeps saying!!
