Hi I’m new
diagnosed jan 3rd, lumpectomy last week and sentinel biopsy performed which suggested cancer was not in my lymph nodes - now waiting for histology on the pea sized cancer they removed and to know if there was a clear margin. I know my cancer was hormone sensitive but the HER2 result seems to have been delayed - what information will the HER2 test provide - my consultant suggests that my future treatment will be radio therapy and possibly hormone therapy - will a postive HER2 result impact on this?
Hi, HER2 is a hormone receptor, which means (for the non medical folks like me) it makes cancers grow more quickly
There are specific treatments for HER positive cancers and this link gives you a bit more detail. My cancer is HER+ and I had phesgo, initially by IV then by injection. It is (thankfully) a treatment with fewer side effects. Best wishes
