I had a lumpectomy dec 2020 followed by radiation therapy. So for 2 years I have worn nonwired bras but have recently had a fitting for a wired bra.
Is it ok to wear a bra with a wire after BC if its comfortable?
Sorry this may seem a silly question
I had a lumpectomy/radiotherapy in 2013 and once I’d healed I wore wired bras, my understanding is once it’s healed and so long as the bra is well fitted it’s fine but I’m not medically trained xx
I'd just suggest making sure the bra isn't too tight, and allow for expansion if you're nearing 40. :)
HI I have had a double mastectomy with breast reconstruction using implants on May 4th 2022. Then followed 20 weeks of chemo treatments.. At the end of December 2022 I saw my breast surgeon who said I could buy a normal bras rather than a soft support bras. I went for a bras fitting at John Lewis Bluewater who work closely with BRACA Kent. They were superb and so supportive. It took sometime to find the right bras for me. I ended up with a under wire bras which gave me a real boost. We tried on a T-shirt which helped to understand the difference in Bras. If your bras is comfortable then why not wear it.
I hope this helps.
I was advised to wear non-wired bras after surgery, but about five months in (and struggling to find one that felt comfortable and that felt like me) my consultant said it was fine to wear wired bras. I had a mastectomy and a lumpectomy. Enjoy the search!
