My mum started on letrozole about 5 weeks ago . She getting horrendous sickness , bouts of constipation/ diarrhoea. She's literally housebound with the sickness and dizziness. Spoke to breast team and they've said try and persevere. Has anyone else suffered bad side effects from the letrozole and if so has it passed ?
I'm on exemestane and it took a good 9 months or so for things to settle. I was fine at first, but developed terrible wrist pain that took about 6 months to resolve and is now completely fine again. My oncologist said it takes 6 months for these drugs to settle.
During the first year, I also got to know which brands agreed with me and which didn't and I have the same brand all the time now. Some other brands gave me tummy problems.
Has she tried taking it with and without food (I need to take mine with or I get a sore tummy), and changing the time of day she takes it too?
Another option to try could be reducing the dose to every 2nd or 2rd day and building up over a couple of months to the full dose. I started my exemestane every 2nd day to give my body a chance to adjust.
