I have TNBC and am due to have a single mastectomy in 2 weeks.
I have sent for the post surgery comfort bras from George at Asda to use immediately after surgery. They have arrived today and I'm wondering whether these should fit snugly or be more of a comfortable fit.
I am normally a 34E-ish bra and have sent for both medium and large in the post surgery bra..
Also, I've sent for a front opening blouse (most of my tops are over the head sort) and a friend who has had breast surgery mentioned to me that you should buy 2 sizes bigger than normal for immediate post surgery . Is that right? l
Hi, I have been wearing the asda post surgery bras for 19 months, they are really good. I started with them a little tighter as there are two rows of hooks & eyes & then used in the second set later on.
The hospital gave me one to wear when leaving hospital and I wore that until my drain was out & swelling had gone down a bit, after my mastectomy
I also got some front opening tops & pj's, really useful, just had them a bit looser especially while I had a drain stashed under there.
Hope all goes well for you.
Best wishes x
No reconstruction.
The medium feels a bit snug and the large feels more comfortable but maybe not firm. The material is quite stretchy so maybe will become looser over time, have you found that?
There are thin pads in the pockets, the opening is very small. Do these come out and can you get a Comfie in the pocket or does the Comfie go next to the skin and the bra supposed to keep it in place?
Yes, I can manage to keep both sizes. I can take both sizes with me to hospital and be guided by the breast care nurse. They're reasonably priced.
They do give a little bit over time. The pads do come out, I take out when washing.
Im not sure if a comfie would fit in as I had implant reconstruction. Hopefully if you take both with you they can help you while you are in hospital. I would have thought it goes in the bra so as not to rub your skin but may be other ladies could advise.
Best wishes x
I can't really see how a Comfie could fit in. I've not been shown a Comfie but I was shown a silicone prosthesis and that certainly couldn't fit through the small opening. I think I would get fitted properly when it's time to start using a silicone prosthesis.
I'm sure I'll get all the help I'll need from the breast care nurse. I'm just trying to plan ahead and be organised in good time.
Thanks for your help.
