Hi there, I’m about to go on off to Australia and was talking to some who said when she were going on a long haul flight , she was told to stop taking tamoxifen 5days before she went, due to an increased risk of DVT. I’ve been on anastrozole for 2 years, I’m seeing my GP next week , but just  wondering if anyone else has been given advice about long haul flights. Thanks

  • Hi  , I’m a fellow Anastrozole pill popper. I’ve not been told, or read, that there are any issues re flying but good point to raise it. I flew from UK to Singapore after 8 months on it and had various vaccinations as we were going on to Bali. I had jabs at the doctors and at a travel clinic, told the nurses on initial visits that I was on Anastrozole and nothing adverse was mentioned. I also flew to Canada last summer after over 3 years of it. On both occasions I wore the support socks but from my own risk assessment! Will be interested to hear what your GP says, hopefully all ok. Love and hugs, HFxx

  •   , I flew to Australia se real months after starting Letrozole (same family) I wore flight socks. There is not the same risk of DVT with aromatise inhibitors as with Tamoxifen, but it is wise to take precautions. Move your legs around, and wear the socks. Have a great time xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Thanks for that HappyFeet1, will let you know what my GP says. Must admit though her answer to most things is  ‘ Er not sure about that’ so like you and plenty of other people I try and do my own research. Keep well xxx

Lots of tears in the last couple of years, but yes it does help. x
