I am starting paclitaxel tomorrow weekly for 12 weeks. I am feeling very anxious about side effects. I have had 3 surgeries to get clear margins and will need radiotherapy also. I was diagnosed with grade  3, triple positive invasive ductal carcinoma.  Would appreciate hearing the experiences of others. Thank you

  • Hey, I’m triple negative breast cancer that has now metastasised in my lymph nodes and glands in my neck so it’s now secondary so incurable.

I had my 5th paclitaxel today, I’m finding it ok, I also got my first immunotherapy today so waiting to see how that is.

It is so easy to say but just try get on with things as normal, if you feel tired rest, if you have side effects that are awful call them and 9 out of 10 times they will have medication to stop it.

    good luck tomorrow xx

  • Hi mackitty, I had 15 paclitaxel and found it ok hope you do too x

  • Hi. I had 12 Paclitaxel and it was ok - it felt a bit relentless in terms of going back week after week and it gets very tiring but I’m sure you can do it.  Ask for help advice about side effects the second you sense something changing - it might just be a little change but it’s best to have a plan if it gets worse.

  • Hi, I have had 7 of 9 Paclitaxel, which came after 3 EC. Although weekly can seem a lot, the sessions quickly get ticked off and so it feels doable. I agree with others who replied, if you have any uncomfortable side effects, let the team know as they can prescribe something to make it better.

I had some heartburn, but now have medication which prevents it, I do get tired, but I expected that. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it, and be kind to yourself.

I hope it all goes well for you x
