Swelling after mastectomy & flap rebuild

Hi,I’ve just had a mastectomy (no reconstruction). I’ve still got swelling 3 weeks on. It’s not as painful / sore as a week ago though. Surgeon saw it last Friday and is not concerned. I think it might be shrinking a tad, she said that it’s also normal for it to go up and down. Hope that helps a little. Xx

Hello,  can you get in touch with your breast care nurse to get checked out?  No one should be in pain and it sounds as though you need to be assured by a professional!  Best wishes.  Don’t be worrying alone.  Best wishes J xx

It does take a while for it to settle but I mirror other advice, please check with the nurses that your breast is ok, you shouldn’t be in dreadful pain, so they can give you better painkillers and just check you don’t have an infection. Hope you feel better soon x
