Hi everyone

Today I'm on Day 13 post 1st session of Chemo and hair loss has started. My head feels tender as if someone has tried pulling my hair out. I just wondered what you wonderful Warriors used as products for your scalp. Thank you so much

Cx

  • Hi   I too got that feeling in my scalp, it’s odd isn’t it?! Whilst you’ve still got hair, something like simple shampoo or faith in nature is really good. To ease a sore head then aloe Vera is really good and I’ve also been told baby oil. Good luck with your treatment!

  • Ah I’m sorry, it’s really hard. It’s not for everyone but I found getting a total wet shave (and before people say it’s not recommended in case you get a cut, I know it isn’t but it was fine, I had it done by a professional barber) eased that pain. I went down to a buzz cut first for about a week which worked fine at first but then the small bits of hair started to fall out and it drove me nuts. All the best xx

  • Hi Anna. Thank you for your reply. I had my hair cut much shorter before my first chemo in preparation for fall out. I'm at that stage now where as soon as I move it's like confetti falling and that strange fizziness which I assume is the follicles releasing the hair. This morning I've made a scarf into a turban and tomorrow I'm going to have it taken off as I can't deal with it every morning seeing how much has gone. Chemo - the gift that keeps on giving. Good luck on your journey x

  • Hi Shell thank you for your reply. I've used a scarf as a turban this morning and going to get it all taken off tomorrow. Aloe vera on order. Good luck on your journey x

  • Yes I had a shaggy pixie in prep, my hair had been shoulder length. It is crappy, I know the stage you mean! I felt the same about loosing it gradually hence my rather brutal cutting it all off. I personally found beanies easier to wear than turbans, I also had a nice wig and never actually wore it!

  • Hi CJMP45,  I remember that stage.  After my second chemo with cold cap my hair started coming out.  I had just grown it to shoulder length.  One day I washed it and it all went into a clumpy knot.  Apparently quite common.  So I got the scissors and chopped it off as short as I could.  I used a combo of chemo hats from a well known site and tied turbans. Bought a very expensive wig too.  Only wore it a couple of times.  It’s grown back now curly grey and strong.  Needs cutting.  Very best wishes on your journey. J xxx Oh and I used very expensive chemo shampoo (no idea if it was any good).  Also used a cheap hair oil regrowth which was better xx
