Hi. I was diagnosed with stage invasive ductal cancer last March and had a wide local excision and 8 lymph nodes removed they all came back clear. I know in the next month I will get a letter asking me to attend for 1st post op mammogram.
However my concerns are is I still natural to feel so emotional and tired all the time at this stage? I just dont feel like myself.
Yes! Completely normal. I'm coming up for my second yearly mammogram and am still fatigued. I am in hormone therapy and went from pre-menopausal to post menopausal with aromatase inhibitor on top, which I think feels like menopause on steroids.
I have to pace myself now but one good thing is that it does make you prioritise what's important to you.
I work from home full time now, which allows me to cope with a full time job and have a bit of energy left for things I enjoy.
I'm not so emotional any more but only because I finally gave in to help a couple of months ago and started a low dose anti depressent. I finally feel myself again and am sleeping better too.
I was put on letrozole post treatment but that made me feel so rotten with the tiredness and low mood I stopped taking it after 6 weeks. They tried to get me to take something else. I went through menopause at 38 and now a month of 60 and I wasn't keen on the menopause symptoms either.
I took anti depressants in past which didn't work. So not keen. But I am trying to be positive and hope to get out more with spring around the corner.
