Hi All,  I have type 3 grade 3 Invasive Breats Cancer with lympho/vascular invasion, was diagnosed last May, had come surgery in August in been on Chemo since, due to finish end January, I am booked for a double mastectomy at begining of March, I have come to terms with this and do not have an issue with the surgery it's self, my query is I know I have to take a soft non wired under bra with me not sure if the hospital will provide softies waiitng on answer to that one, but can anyone who has been through this already advise on anything else that I should be considering taking in with me, I will have a drain on each side so thought PJ's best front opening, I will be in for at least 2 days I have been told as I do not do well with GA's, but I am looking for any advise on things that might make my stay a bit easier as I will not have any visitors during this time, any must have's, creams cushions anything.  Also how much movement did anyone have after their ops please just to give me an idea of what to expect,  Thanks all

  • I'd recommend easy up trousers - elasticated waste. Consider a long bendy straw for drinks. Slippers should be easy to take on and off too. There are companies that make and post you mastectomy cushions, drain bag holders, and seatbelt protectors for going home. A plug with an extra long USB wire is also helpful. My hospital provided softies and I hope that yours will too. You might need a saftey pin per softie to hold the top in place in your bra, though thats a thing for when you get home. More than anything take yourself some treats!

  • Thanks so much for the info, will try to find the Company you are talking about for the drain bag holders, thanks so much will take it all on board.
