Hi everyone,
I have my one stop stop appt on the 22nd although they are desperately trying to find a cancellation for me since I have a small back op on the 20th and it’ll be very difficult for me to move or even sit. So hopefully I’ll get a call to come in sooner
Ive been waiting 3 weeks so far and the more I understand BC and different symptoms associated with certain types - the most I’m concerned about lobular BC. Now it might turn out to be nothing or another type of BC but most of my symptoms fit lobular and these have been getting worse for months.
My question is for those who were diagnosed with lobular BC, what symptoms or signs did you initially have?
Symptoms for me have been thickening, even some areas where there are hard “knots”, my breast has enlarged, it hangs low, my nipple now most of the time almost points completely downwards like a weight is that last 1/3rd of the breast. It’s heavy, it’s drooping a lot. My aerola has gotten SO much bigger and is even starting to have a crease pull it on the areola itself. My nipple reacts a lot slower than my other. I do have thickening in the other breast but I’d say not nearly as bad as the problem boob. All of this has been slowly getting worse since late aug. I have had blood tests that shows zero infection.
I’m only 35 and I’ve heard some people don’t get treated great because they are on the younger side.. but I’ve waited since august to see if it would go away and it’s just gotten worse and worse to the point im really concerned now.
Hi I'm 57 and have Lobular Cancer. I didn't have a lump, just thickening under my arm and an area on the side of my breast that felt different almost like little ridges. Unfortunately in my case I was seen over five years ago with the problems described and given a mammogram and ultrasound but was told the mammogram was normal and the other area that felt different was a cyst and sent on my way.
Over the years the ridges became more pronounced and eventually formed a lump which is when I went back to the hospital last August. I also had puckering on the skin and my left breast (the one with the cancers) felt heavier. I was diagnosed with Lobular cancer in September.
By the time I was diagnosed I had three tumours and they were big, the largest was 55mm and they were over 70mm in total but I had no node involvement, all of the cancer was removed on the first surgery and I don't need chemotherapy just radiotherapy. Lobular cancer does grow slowly, mine was there for years so if your is getting worse in weeks it would be very unusual for Lobular Cancer.
Waiting is really difficult but I had numerous tumours for at least five years and they were very large (all together the size of an apple) but I still have a very good prognosis. They will go off your symptoms not your age. No one can say what is wrong but I had very similar symptoms in my right breast about 10 years ago, soreness, ill defined swelling, wonky nipple and that turned out to be an abcess, so there really is no way to tell.
Hope that helps.
Hi Tori Grace and welcome to the forum. I can appreciate that you are worried but please please stay off Google whilst you wait. I can only tell you that My Breast Cancer was lobular and I had absolutely NO symptoms what so ever and mine was only picked up at my routine Mammogram.
My point is that Lobular is a sneeky type of Breast Cancer and doesnt always present with symptoms, so maybe best to wait until you are seen, have biopsies taken and been examined.
Hope it goes well for you and thinking of you.
