Hi,
I have pain in my ribs at the site of radiotherapy but it has since spread to my femurs and spine and it’s getting worse. After a nuclear bone scan my oncologist said there was no sign off lesions so not bone mets. (Thankfully) The pain is an awful ache and sort of ‘pulses’ and is worse at night.
has anyone else experienced this? What is it?
my spine is particularly bad, feels like the lower spine frequently ’shatters’ and I have severe pain.
Would love to hear if anyone has had this and what it was.
thanks.
Did you have chemo? After chemo I had problems with pain from my spine. I needed an operation to decompress the sciatic nerve from a vertebrae which was pushing it. My neuro surgeon said that he is sure there is a connection between chemo and back problems as he sees so many but most oncologists won't acknowledge it. He thinks the chemo accelerates problems that might have occurred in the future. In my case the packing had deteriorated between bone and nerve. I was in pain for months before I mentioned it to my GP. I was struggling to walk by then as the leg kept giving out. I couldn't stand either. Five minutes cooking or washing up and I had to sit. After the op, things have improved but it took months rather than weeks.
Hope it helps to know you won't be alone with your difficulties. Over the years, I have read posts from many others with pain. Hormone inhibitors are notorious too.
Take care and I hope you feel better soon.
