Recently diagnosed is anyone else in Ireland

  • Was just wondering if treatment protocols are different . I’ve seen no exercises given after surgery. Also in Ireland I thibk eveyone gets oncotype test

  • I’m not sure tbh. I know I was seen by a physio and given exercises post double mastectomy. With oncotype I’m sure I didn’t have one done. I had dcis which was removed in its entirety and I no longer have breast tissue so the likelihood or recurrence is minimal. Also I went privately as was covered by husbands insurance but the surgeon also works for the nhs.

  • I’m in Ireland .. been treated since 2020 triple positive subtype

  • Hi lovejellies are you Dublin Hospital based. How have you found care

  • Hey Redcar I’m in Donegal . I have to say my treatment from day one brilliant. I don’t know how they doing it as they badly need senior staff. One thing is you need to be on the ball and know ur subtype as you will get more out of appointments . I had a pet done in st James and whoever the radiographer was … she needed a personality transplant other then that I find staff worth their weight xxxx

  • Hi. I’m in Dublin. Diagnosed with ER+, PR+ in October 2021. I had a lumpectomy and was given a sheet with recommended exercises. There is a great leaflet available on the Breast care now UK site. Make sure to do them as it really makes a difference. Best wishes

  • Hi carho where was your treatment and what did it consist of

  • Hey Redcar, I have to agree with lovejellies, I am also in Donegal, and staff is absolutely lovely. Was given exercises after lumpectomy, but needed physio before I started radiotherapy because I had developed cording. I had rt in Derry, and again everyone was so nice.

I am still doing the exercises my physiotherapist showed me, as I am still getting pains in my arm and shoulder, apparently from the rt ( finished in July). And I am getting herceptin injections every three weeks.

I wish you all the best for your treatment, bianca

  • In St Vincent’s. Lumpectomy followed by oncotype test. Luckily didn’t need chemotherapy but had 20 sessions of radiotherapy.
