I am new. However I was diagnosed in July 22 with bc. I have had surgery that included removal of all lymph glands under right arm. I have had Chemo, radiation and Trastuzunad . Now only on Tamoxifen 20 mg daily. Have developed Lymphodema grade 3. Using compression sleeves and a compression pump to manage.

My eyes and nose have been running since shortly after starting chemo and still continues now. Has anyone had similar side effects and how did you control it.

  • Hi, welcome to the Forum. I had a runny nose during chemo and, on the advice of my oncologist, I took anti histamine tablets which helped to some extent. It might be worth asking your medical team about this as an idea. Sometime the small side effects can be the most annoying, hope you can get it resolved soon. Best of luck

  • Hi @sugar75, I had the same problem. Ophthalmologist told me that chemo damages the meibomian glands in the eyelids. These give oil to the tears, and this lubricates the eye normally. Without them you get outpouring of watery tears. They recommend using a heated pad on the eyelids ( not too hot) followed by massage . A.so using eyes drops such as hypromellose. These you can buy, but can be prescribed. You can get a purpose made eye pad from the optician. I’m still doing it !!! Good luck.

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Hi Irishgirl16.

Thanks. I have had 5 or 6 different antihistamine eye drops and tablets. None of these have been of much help. As soon as I walk around it is like opening a tap.
