It's been 18 months now since I had a lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy. It is only recently that I've noticed my treated boob, the nipple is now a very pale pink compared to the untreated, which remains browny pink. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm only guessing it could be the radiotherapy?
Hello. Yes my boobs are now a different colour to each other and a different shape. I was told it could be up to 2 years for things to settle down. I'm only 1 year post rads. I'm sure if I asked they would have done it but at my 1 year check up no one asked to look at my boob and check it was all as it should be. If you have concerns, you could always ring your beast nurse.
Thanks for your reply, and I will ask at my next check. I hope you are doing ok x
Hi Bilko19, yes mine is the same. It turned black after rads and was increasingly painful during the 3 weeks (back in 2019), then after about 12 weeks a big scab fell off! It felt slightly better then as the scab must have been pulling. Tbh I thought at first that my nipple had fallen off! Sorry if tmi! Anyway it’s gradually resolving but remains inverted and very pale. I’m sure it’s from the radiotherapy. Who knew? I think there are lots of ‘minor’ effects that aren’t listed as side effects as such. Love and hugs, HFxx
Gosh, sounds like your boob really went through it! You're right, so many strange after effects!
Love and hugs back!!

Hi I'm due to have radiotherapy but worried about what cream to use after. Hear so many stories and getting worried xx
Hi BobbysGirl, try not to worry, everyone is different and reacts differently. I read here and on other threads about some people being given Flamigel RT by the radiotherapy teams. I bought some online via Amazon and with the approval of my team slapped it on every day for two weeks plus. So far my skin hasn’t had any adverse reaction and I’m 4 weeks post radiotherapy.
Have you had your planning scan yet? I found the team very helpful at that stage, and it’s really worthwhile talking through your concerns.
Good luck with your treatment. Best wishes Karen xx
