Hi Amd,
Firstly, sorry to hear you are going through this.
I had my first chemo session today and have opted not to have a cold cap but instead have shaved my hair short on my terms. I have a beautiful wig and also have head scarves. The wig is very warm so plan to wear it on occasion but not all the time. You may want to consider some headscarves for day to day or round the house possibly. The ones I have are like skull caps with a scarf attached that can be tied in a few ways. I also have a couple of sleep caps for wearing in bed.
Have you spoken with your cancer nurse / team about this? My hospital actually provide a voucher to cover the cost of one wig and were able to put me in touch with a supplier they use for head scarves so I could order some good quality ones at a cheap.price. What is offered will be different for different hospitals but its worth asking.
With regards to the wigs, there are many many available. I have gone for a bit of an out there one. It's blue, purple and white ombre as I am young and wanted something fun. There are many many more 'natural' looking wigs. The wig shop will let you look at and try on styles you like to find one that is you. It is good.to try go before you lose your hair if you can if you are wanting a more natural one. I hope you manage to get sorted with everything.
Also, congratulations for your daughter getting married x
Hi Amd, I got a voucher from my hospital in Leeds and was able to get a good quality wig from the Natural Image range, they’re very lightweight and look so natural. I’m naturally a bit of a sweaty Betty and hate the feeling of a wig, but that one was very comfy. I did buy a lot of cheaper ones from Shein and a few other websites which look good, but aren’t as comfortable. Try get a bamboo wig cap to wear under it, it helps! Also, I found that the worst bit is that there’s no hair on your temples, which can make the wigs look “wiggly” as can the forehead,so I opted for a bob type with a fringe and something that covers the ears, although you can still tuck a bit of hair behind your ears and leave a few strands to cover the temples. Try a few on, you may be pleasantly surprised. Good luck x
Hi Amd
you can get a voucher off the NHS to help towards the cost of a wig.
I have become quite addicted to wearing them now, even though my hair has grown back but is still short. most of mine are purchased from a company called Natural image as this company allows you to send the wigs back also you will be exempt from paying Vat on them.
Below are just a few examples of the wigs I have.

I was diagnosed in 2016 and became a total wig addict - I have eight! My favourite affordable place is Lush Wigs - their range has wonderful funky styles, but they also do more natural-looking ones. Good luck ️
