CBD alongside chemo

Has anyone had experience taking CBD drops (broad spectrum) for side effects of chemo? I’ve been given some by a FOAF who owns a CBD shop, I would like to try it particularly for nausea and apparently it can help with hair loss. Just cautious about it. I know the usual advice would be to speak with my consultant but his response will probably advise against it

Anyone who has tried it I would love to hear from you

Oh my treatment is currently FEC-T, I’m on the 2nd cycle of FEC

Thanks!

  • Hello. I have no personal experience with CBD (unless you count the oil I give my dogs, which does work)

The only thing I know about CBD is that it doesn’t contain the “drug” part of it, you don’t get high. I hope someone can give you more information. Take care.

  • Hi,

I take a high strength cbd oil, and have just completed my 3rd chemo, I'm on pacitaxel.

It helps with my anxiety, and helps me sleep and the effects of the chemo, it hasn't done anything for hair loss, I am using the cold cap and have kept a tiny bit.

    Any questions just ask.

  • Hi Icela,

    thanks for this SmileSmile
Can I ask, did you check with your consultant or care team before taking it?? What exact type or strength is the 1 you’re taking? Also you say you’ve completed your 3rd chemo, was that pacitaxel, or EC?? I’m still on the EC part for 2 more then I do 3 rounds of pax. I had really awful nausea for almost a week after my 1st round so if it helps with that I’ll be happy!

  • Kat,

I told them.i was taking the CBD paste, they recorded it on my records and stated that they couldn't say if it was any good, but I've needed it after finding out I had cancer as I didn't want to take antidepressants which they offered!!

It was my 3rd pacitaxel, I have ine more then I have 4 of AC.

  • Hiya,

I told them I was taking cbd, as I needed it for my anxiety to be honest  after the initial diagnosis  they didn't say anything to be honest.

I've had my 4 pacitaxel and I was ok on it, didn't feel nauseas at all, just had my 1st Ac on Tues and have been feeling sick since it, they did warn me, I don't take anything on the day of my treatment so will see if the cbd helps with it going forward.

I take the highest strength paste which I believe is 50.

    Hope that helps?

  • sorry to hijack the post, but what CBD do you give your dog and for what condition? (I have a dog so am interested)

  • CBD can be prescribed (NHS, Google it) for chemo nausea, but I think it's extreme reactions, and I don't know how they gauge this, but it would suggest you can so it may be worth asking.

  • I used to take CBD gummies for my anxiety and sleep issues before. However, when I was about to start my chemotherapy, my doctor told me to stop taking them because CBD might interfere with how my body processes cancer drugs. It’s called drug interaction, which might make cancer treatment more toxic and less effective.
It wasn’t easy because those gummies from OrganicCBDNugs.com used to make my life a lot easier and gave me the possibility to feel a bit like a normal person. I could sleep better and experience fewer psychological issues in general. But it’s a sacrifice I was willing to make.

  • If you Google you will find recent articles reporting on use of CBD oil and magic mushrooms alongside conventional medicine to treat cancer.  A few brace people prepared to try are providing so much information to cancer researchers who seek to identify exactly what is beneficial.

Persinally I take Love Hemp CBD oil for joint pain.  I use this brand as it's flavoured oil - couldn't tolerate natural, plus urs good quality.
