Lump in opposite breast

I was diagnosed with TNBC in September 2018. Had surgery, chemo and radiotherapy.

Annual mammograms have all been clear since.

Once I got past the three year mark I was beginning to think I'd beat this.

Found a new lump last week in opposite breast. Was seen by BC Nurse in Clinic and now I'm waiting for an appointment for screening tests.

I thought I was ok but I'm beginning to feel extremely anxious.

The lump is like a hard pea which the BC Nurse described as the size of a 'marrowfat' rather than a 'petit pois'.

If it turns out to be a return of the original cancer, or even a new cancer, I've decided that I will not be having chemo again.

Hoping it's just a cyst or a fibroadenoma but can't help thinking the worst.

Hate the waiting.

Just feeling the need to ventilate.

Don't want to worry my family unnecessarily. Best wait until I know one way or the other.

Best wishes to everyone.

  • Sorry you've got this worry now.  As you know though if it is cancer in opposite breast they successfully treated other breast almost 4 years ago and that breast has stayed clear for almost 4 years and is hopefully still clear.  If it's in opposite breast it will be classed as new primary I think.  I didn't go through chemo I just had surgery and radiotherapy.  I'm 7 years down the line and if you read my profile you'll see I've had a couple of scares/recalls along the way so I understand your feelings of "not again" even though the sensible part of me knew they had successfully treated before.

Hope you get your appointment soon xx

  • Hi Carol,

    Thank you for your reply.

Just panicking a bit I think.

    Best wishes,
