Hi all
I am pretty much exactly 13 weeks post therapeutic mammoplasty following my grade 2 stage 1 invasive ductal cancer diagnosis. ER + HER-. 3 weeks after the mammoplasty, I had a full axilary node clearance as they had found cancer in 1 lymph node. Subsequent tests showed it hadn’t spread beyond this node and they had clear margins from the original surgery. I completed 5 sessions of radiotherapy 3 weeks ago and am on Anastrazole for 10 years. But this week I have found a lump almost exactly in the same place as the 1st lump. I also asked my daughter to feel as wasn’t sure if I was being paranoid and she said there was a definite lump. I phoned the breast care nurse and she said probably scar tissue but to come in if concerned. So has anyone else experienced this - part of me thinks clear margins no spread - what are the chances of it being back in the same place so quickly - surely highly unlikely and the rest of me is oh shit here we go again. Really grateful for anyone else’s thoughts
Thanks
Aly
Hi, I had a lump checked after my radiotherapy and found it was fluid built up after surgery but definitely worth getting it checked for peace of mind. Best wishes
I also have found a lump exactly where the original one was!!!! I went to see my breast care nurse and she could feel it as well. She said it was most definitely scar tissue from the the WLE and also inflammation from the radiotherapy that I had. She said she would see when I was due to see the surgeon and make sure it was a face to face appointment so that he could check it and confirm the same.
I can still feel it, and it is quite painful at times. I was thinking the same as you though, you find another lump and you think the worst. I am keeping my fingers crossed
Hi Aly, I’m another post surgery lumpy person! There’s definitely hard tissue in the area of my original ‘thickening’. But I’m nearly 4 years post diagnosis, all annual mammograms clear so far (waiting for most recent results). However because it always feels ‘lumpy’ to me, I’ve asked for face to face manual checks as well as the annual mammogram, as I need the peace of mind of an actual physical examination, even though it hurts! It’s still tender in that area after all that time, and my nipple seems to be permanently inverted. But I guess that’s my new normal on that side.
Definitely get it checked out though, I don’t think there’s any substitute for a professional opinion. Just wanted to add to the other ‘you’re not alone’ responses. Love and hugs, HFxx
I found a lump in my cancer breast 5 weeks after surgery and before my radiotherapy. It was in a different place to my surgery site. It turned out to be a large cyst that they excised for me. In the back of my head, I knew it probably wasn't anything to worry about but you can't help but get really anxious about these things. The consultant at the clinic said that it is always worth getting these things checked out, so you are definitely doing the right thing!
Thank you everyone for the reassurance - I’m sure it’s nothing but the BCN has booked me in for an ultrasound next week to be on the safe side
Hi Aly I found lump where my surgery was done… 10 months after surgery. I was in bits for 3 weeks, was given appointment to see surgeon. Examined, mammogram and ultrasound done. Nothing sinister found and explained it was scar tissue from surgery. Yours will most probably be this too but I understand the feeling you have right now. Try and be calm as the worry just eats away at you. Best wishes xx
