Erm Hi.
I have been looking through all the chats and have gained a lot of information and advise from everything I have read. So thank you. However I can’t find anyone with the issue I have.
I am/was a GG cup before having lumpectomies on both breasts with having both nipples removed. I am ok with loosing the nipples but not ok with loosing both breasts. I am a tiny person and having large breasts has been a part of me since I was 13. I am now 52.
My operation was a week ago ( still waiting for the results) and today the main dressings were removed leaving the steristrips to be removed in 3 days time.
Throughout the day gravity has taken hold and I am in a lot of pain, like the day after the operation. My breasts look horrible, You can see where the internal stitches are and in between each stitch my breasts are trying to brake free. I am absolutely mortified. Back to wearing a bra in bed just incase the internal stitches come loose with the pressure of explosive breast tissue.
Is there anyone out there that had the same issue?
Hi Leavesaregreen welcome to the forum, sounds like you have bene hovering, so glad that you have felt able to come in and post.
I am very surprised that they have not told you you be wearing the bra day and night for at least 4-6 weeks thats what happened when I had my surgery 5 years ago.
If that doesnt improve and you are still in so much pain I would make contact with the Breast Nurse and see if someone can have a look at this for you but keep the bra on meantime and at least you will have some support. xxx
Hi. Gail
Thank you for responding.
Why didn’t I think I should were the bra all the time? I am a big breasted woman of course I should know this. It makes sense.
thank you xxx
They should have advised you of that before you left the hospital so that you didnt need to fee so worried thats not fair of them .
Let us know if that helps any? I wore the little pull over sports bras from Asda they go up to bigger sizes for us well endowed ladies and very comfy to wear. xxx
Hi Gail
I dragged my husband to M&S to get some soft bra’s before I saw your reply re the Asda one’s. They have made such a difference regarding the pain to the boobs and under the arm where the lymph nodes were taken.
Thank you for the advice.
However I won’t be needing them for long as I met with the consultant to review the results from the operation. (Wore my lucky pants)
Hi Leavesaregreen Im glad that the bras are working.
That's not the news that you would be wanting to hear and I can understand why. How you feeling about that prospect of a Mastectomy?
The bras may still be ok to wear as they will give you a prosthesis to fit inside the bra. I am with you re the chemo, thats my understanding that if the lymph nodes are involved then chemo is given but some of the other folks on here who have had chemo may be better able to tell you definetely on that one.
Yeah life has been a bit of a whirlwind in the last few years, but yes retirement is good and Im enjoying being a lady who lunches. (Though my thighs are feeling the effects of too many lunches) x
Hi Gail
Having mastectomies was something I really didn’t want and felt I needed to try with the lumpectomies. I am coming round to the idea (slowly) by doing research and reading peoples posts. I am worried the consultant won’t remove the right breast if he got a clear margin. The thought of me having one boob will tip me over the edge, I don’t think I could cope with that.
Love a lunch with the girls xxxx
