Hi my name is Caitlin, I am new here, I am in my early 40's. I am a trans woman and started female hormones in July last year. Before starting hormones I was like experiencing the menopause as I have been on testosterone blockers for 3 years. So until last July I had no hormones.

Now that I have started getting breasts I have started to develop a blister at the beginning it was itchy and painful but now it is more painful than itchy.

I'm scared. I don't have family and I have few friends. I am so lonely.

  • Hi Caitlin.

Sorry you are feeling lonely and worried. There’s always someone on here to give support and advise .

you don’t say if you have seen a doctor  regarding your blister , if you haven’t already, I would definitely get an appointment. It may turn out to be nothing serious but it’s always best to get these things checked out .
Good luck and let us know how you get on .

  • Sorry just reread you are awaiting assessment. Hopefully it will be soon . Best of luck x

  • Hi Caitlin

I am sorry to hear that you are scared and lonely. You’ve made the first step towards getting help by posting on here.

I have never seen a breast cancer present with a blister so my suggestion would be to contact the team that have been overseeing your transition or your GP . It is better to know what is going on than to be scared.

Don’t be lonely. There is a good thread on the forum called Awake and lots of people chit chat on that…. More about life than illness. There will always be someone here to listen.

Or you could ring the Macmillan help line to ask their advice.

I hope you get some answers.

    Take care

  • Hi Caitlin,  and a big welcome to the forum:)

We are a mixed group of different ages, backgrounds and cancer types here,  and include family members and a few men with breast cancer too. Have you been diagnosed with cancer yet,  or it's it being investigated still? Hopefully it will be benign, as most lumps and bumps and many rashes are. Fingers crossed!

If it does turn out to be cancer then the early days are definitely the hardest part, waiting on tests and results before treatment can start,  when our minds jump to the worst conclusions,  usually wrong. It must be so much harder being trans,  as you probably already have been through so much emotionally and physically on your journey, and your mental health shaken if your experiences are anything like my friend Rhianna.  It seems much harder than being a trans man because of societies inherent sexism. Hopefully your time here will be short and it will be good news,  but in the meantime feel free to ask questions.  There is a thread called Awake, which started for those unable to sleep, and often someone is around in the night,  though is more a social club these days! Anyway,  welcome and a big hug as it sounds like you need it:) X

  • Hi Miss K, thank you for your reply, yes I have seen my GP who has made an urgent referral to the hospital. The waiting is horrible.

  • Hi London, yes I am a Trans Woman, I have been through so much dealing with transphobia, sadly I had my neck and back broken in attack in January 2021 in Peckham and I am now in a wheelchair mostly.  Also a month ago a man was arrested for verbal transphobia.

With the lump I am waiting for the dr at the hospital to do an assessment on me.

Thanks for reaching out to me.

  • I agree , the waiting for results is the worst . We’ve all been there and fully understand how you will be feeling. Sending hugs .

  • Hi Exray

Thank you for reaching out to me. Yes there is a rare form of breast cancer that comes in the form of blister (very dry dark skin).  I am just waiting for the assessment.

    Thanks

  • That's so terrifying! I hope that they caught whoever did it and you can eventually recover mobility. There are still 'those people', even in 'safer', places like Brighton. I took my youngest to Key West a few years ago when she was 15 and struggling as a bisexual girl at a catholic girls school, and it was the closest I've ever found to anywhere being open to all.  She loved it and it gave me an excuse to finally go! You said that you are lonely.  Have you tried any groups or don't you like them? My friend sometimes goes to  a place near King's Cross,  who have various groups including 'T on Tuesday'.

Let us know how the tests go...I really hope that it's something easily treated like eczema. X

Good grief! Some side effects are frightening (testosterone inhibitors, maybe) but as you say, you have a referral and hopefully this is totally treatable. Have read your comments below regarding your attack which has left you impaired, I’m so appalled by man’s inhumanity to man. This is truly shocking. I would like to hope you got massive compensation and that the perpetrators were jailed? I know this is off on a tangent but it has left me gutted for you. Sincerely hope your physical situation is sorted soonest. Your heart/emotions, a diff story. Sending v best wishes   Pray
