1st chemo last Thursday, was a bit apprehensive and scarred not knowing what to expect but all went well got the AC , so far so good by the special grace of God and support and tips from here it’s been, okay, but a bit constipated, been given the anti nausea anti vomiting and the white blood cells booster injection . Mouth tastes funky but still able to eat a bit here and there. Keeping an eye on temperature, bought one the other day. Trying to keep positive and occupy my mind. All the best guys

It’s a rollercoaster and I found after each chemo different things were happening to my body most unexpectedly, ie low potassium, low electrolytes, low magnesium which I was unaware of, blood tests prior to chemo revealed those, not to mention hair loss. However! My friends SAILED through her 7 chemos w/o any issues so it’s horses for courses! Wishing you the very best of luck…time will fly! BW.

  • One less to have. I didn't find it easy but you do get through it. Keep crossing them off xx

  • Everyone's experience can be different, but mine, when it came to AC, was that things started to impact on the evening of Day 5 usually (if you think of the day of treatment as Day 1) and by Day 6 I was really feeling it. With the first two AC treatments things started to get better for me on day 10-11, and by Day 13-14 I was fine again which was what I needed, because my schedule was a treatment every two weeks.

My oncologist told me that a lot of people do it once every three weeks, and that he would be happy to delay by a week any time it was needed.

Good idea to keep an eye on temperature, and the anti sickness meds are really important too. I hope the rest of your treatment goes well.

  • Oh that so encouraging and thanks for the info. I’ve got a telephone consultation with my oncologist tomorrow so see how that goes. Just to ask did anyone have a Picc put in. Having mine on 29th, and what should I expect. Any tips will be helpful. Thanks and all the best.

  • No picc line here, but from what I have seen on the forum, the majority said the experience of having it put in went smoothly and no trouble. Hopefully someone who has had it done can give more information.

  • Hi Janito Anito

I was apprehensive of having a Picc line in the beginning until a lady posted a photo of hers on here for me when I asked about them

It was a very straight forward procedure and though annoying at shower times having to wear a sleeve (in which you get from the NHS ) it does saves the veins

So glad I had mine ,it is so much easier for each chemo session and bloods

    all the best

  • Oh great. Thanks for that . I think it will be better as am very much a needle scary cat don’t like the. at all.

    all the very best
