Afternoon all,. I'm on my laptop and don't really know how to use it properly as I seem to have forgotten how to function after chemo. I have 7 treatments and I'm due for surgery (lumpectomy} on the 6th July. My question is how have you copied with the side effects from the chemo. My last treatment was 4 weeks ago on Friday and I'm suffering from swollen feet, just got my blood test results and I'm low on folic acid and my anxiety levels are through the roof at the minute Food tastes different but not in a good way, I haven't been able to stop smoking yet and I've smoked 20 cigs today already. Anyone had the same kind of symptoms and what have you done.
Hi Willotree I too finished chemo about 4weeks ago and last 2 days my ankles are swollen , looks like fluid. Never had swollen ankles in my life but have read it can be a side effect of chemo. My taste is much better but find certain things especially sweet things taste strange . I also have brain fog . Hopefully things should improve. Fingers crossed.
Hi Missi K took me ages to find this tread! Just had conformation for some water tablets this morning for my feet, I'm glad to receive your reply it made me feel much better that its a normal process I'm going through. Hope you are feeling better soon .Was feeling really sorry for myself as I missed the jubilee weekend lol.
I feel I am just getting over chemo three months after finishing it. I often think of common words but I wonder if it's partly due to being off work.for ages.
I have anxiety some days and others I'm.ok. i do.a lot if exercise (although not as much as before cancer ) and find that helps. Maybe you could see your Gp and get some antidepressants which also treat anxiety. Food tasted bad to me for a couple of months after chemo but that's okay now.
Surgery is easy compared with chemo so you have done the hardest part.
I don't expect its a good time to stop smoking at the moment so don't beat yourself up about it. Maybe a goal for the future.
Take care xx
Only had 3 chemos but first 2 saw me in A&E for low potassium, low electrolytes, low magnesium, chronic diarrhoea, then MIRACLES! I managed to get on top of it and 3rd chemo after effects were fine and copable. Am not looking forward to no. 4 on 15 June or 5 and 6 but I thank all those who have ‘done their time’ and for their positive uplifting reports! Onwards and upwards!!
Thank you for taking time to posts your message. I have had the lumpectomy and you were right it was easy. I get the results tomorrow. Just have to wait and see what happens next x
How have you coped with the last few chemos x
Oh I also forgot to mention I am on antidepressants as I suffer from mental heath brought on by the menopause x
